A small group of Australian Investors were considering investing AUD $4 million into a movie production starring two of Hollywood's biggest names and to be produced here in Melbourne's Docklands.
The team at Detective Services was called in to conduct a background investigation of the production company and all persons behind it. The researchers and private investigators identified all parties in the production company and looked into their history both here in Australia and overseas where they had allegedly found fame and fortune.
We investigated and reviewed the company and its background and confidently reported to our clients that the Movie in question was a scam and by using big Hollywood names they had lifted over 20 Million Dollars around the world from greedy investors who were silly enough to believe their rort.
Due Dilligence - 2nd Case Study
Our client was negotiating the purchase of a well known food franchise business located within a busy city food court. Our client during a trial period was suspicious in regards to so many students asking for receipts.
The investigators at VDS were called in to substantiate who the purchasers were and why they were asking for receipts for simple lunch purchases. A due diligence investigation of the current vendor was conducted and due
diligence investigations established the vendors brother was the principal of a nearby university campus.
Through both observations and discussions with students who attended the food court we were able to establish that the university teacher had been reimbursing students for their lunch time purchases.
It subsequently became known that the vendor was in coercion with his brother and in order to obtain a higher price for his business had arranged for students to purchase meals and push up the value of the daily
turnover, which would subsequently increase the purchase price to our client.
Based upon our Due Diligence Investigation our client was able to withdraw from the $750,000 purchase.
